Rocket is certainly an acquired taste, but once you've gotten the bite you won't turn back - especially once you read why rocket is so very good for brain, body and skin.

Rocket or arugula is not a herb, but rather part of the cruciferous family alongside broccoli and cabbage. Whenever you have the opportunity to consume anything dark/green/and/or leafy - please go ahead and do so. There are insatiable amounts of phytonutrients and vitamins to be found here, which aren't as plentiful in other vegetables as they are in the greens. Rocket contains an antioxidant known to stabilise brain activity and therefore also acting as a mood regulator. Magnesium found in the peppery leaves acts as a muscle and tension relaxant, while a large potassium content contributes to cardiovascular health.

Rocket has a high ORAC value (oxygen radical absorbent capacity - a measure of antioxidant strength) so is an ideal food to consume regularly to promote natural detoxification of the body, while containing relatively low oxalate levels making it safe to consume in larger quantities during pregnancy. The vitamin K found in Rocket is a valuable contributor towards bone health - 100g provide 90% of your daily required intake - as well as limiting neuronal damage to the brain and thus helping the prevention and treatment of Alzheimer's.

For the skin Arugula delivers a valuable dose of vitamin C which fights free radicals (anti-ageing alert) and helps the body to produce more collagen.
